In April the Jefferson County Trails Council started putting up signs around Fairfield, Iowa for a citywide Bikeway/Walkway system. The original plan dates to a 2006 study by five University of Iowa URP students as a Field Problems project.

One of our more prolific graduates, Jim Schwab, employed with the APA, has just published an article in the Spring 2008 issue of American Forests.

Last winter's snow and ice were mighty tough going for those of us who work at the University of Iowa. But this month's flooding threatens to have far more lasting effects, almost all of them bad.

Second year student, John Dawson, has been chosen as the winner of the Iowa American Planning Association’s student Essay Scholarship Program. His essay titled, “The Convergence of Planning and Democracy” was chosen as the best in state.

On October 2nd the first-year Urban Planning students took a trip to Iowa City’s south Wastewater Treatment Plant. Students had a chance to tour the plant with Wastewater Superintendent Dave Elias.

In early October, students in Jerry Anthony's Housing Policy course went on a tour of affordable housing in Iowa City.

Jennifer Jordan, Iowa City's recycling coordinator, is featured in an Iowa City Press-Citizen newspaper article on November 13th.

Professor John Fuller's Program Seminar students recently went to West Branch, IA, to participate in a Main Street workshop.
