This semester, we're launching the SPPA Professional Mentorship Program and inviting alumni and professionals in urban planning, public and nonprofit management, and public policy to participate as mentors and help share the next generation. We’re also encouraging interested students to apply now to be matched with a mentor.

The program is designed to support students' professional growth through career exploration, networking, and career readiness while creating meaningful connections between students and professionals in the field. Students will have the opportunity to gain career insights, expand their professional networks, and learn how academic preparation translates into professional practice.

As part of a two-year pilot, we will evaluate student interest, participant experiences, and the program's long-term sustainability. The program is intentionally flexible and participant-driven. We recommend mentor-mentee pairs connect at least twice per semester, with meeting frequency and format determined by each pair.

Mentors will have the opportunity to share their experiences, offer guidance, and contribute to student success. They may also gain new perspectives and remain connected to current student experiences and emerging trends in the field. Mentors are not expected to provide employment opportunities, internships, or professional references.

Mentors and students will be matched based on their interests, goals, and professional backgrounds.
