Jeff Speck, author of "Walkable City: How Downtown Can Save America, One Step at a Time" will speak on Monday, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. in the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St. The event is co-sponsored by the School of Urban and Regional Planning and the City of Iowa City and is free and open to the public.
Jeff Speck is a renowned city planner and urban designer who has dedicated his career to determining what makes cities thrive. "Walkable City" has been called a Best Book of the Year by Planetizen and the American Society of Landscape Architects. Planning Magazine says, "For getting planning ideas into the thinking and the daily life of U.S. cities, this is the book."
