Every year URP second-year master's students complete a two semester long field problems project for a community in Iowa, supported by the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities. A significant amount of work by each team of students culminates into a professional final report for their clients. The UI Main Library has digitized the final reports completed from 2010-2018 and added them to the Iowa Research Online website where they are available to the public.

Tracking shows the reports are not just being viewed in the U.S., but worldwide. Viewers are finding this to be a valuable resource as planning studies on such topics as local food production, redevelopment and healthy neighborhood plans can be applicable to other communities regardless of whether or not they are in the Midwest. Our full archive of final field problems reports from 1986-2009 has been added to the site as well.
