Area of Study
Master of Urban and Regional Planning
Concentration: Land Use and Environmental Planning

Why did you join the program?
Every day I see how our world is being reshaped by seismic shifts in how we relate to ourselves, one another, and the environment. When thinking about how I could contribute meaningfully in this new era, urban planning stood out as a field where I could refine my skills in bridging differences to help others. For me, pursuing this line of work is not just professional—it’s spiritual. It’s about doing my part to serve the public good.

What advice would you give to someone considering pursuing a master of urban planning at the School of Planning and Public Affairs?
This program has the potential to reshape how you relate to others, both professionally and personally. Through coursework, you are taught how to process interpersonal challenges with more humility, intimacy, and gratitude. Classes teach you that change doesn’t come from dying on our ideological hills. Instead, it happens in the small moments—when we choose to set aside cultural baggage, listen deeply, and find common ground between two conflicting perspectives.

What's a fun fact about you?
Birds and ants are my best friends.
