Chuck Connerly, Professor and Director of the School of Urban and Regional Planning, recently held a conversation with Connie Mutel of UI IIHR- Hydroscience and Engineering to discuss Water, Prairies and Climate Change-Iowa’s Environment in Historical Perspective. Mutel is an author, environmentalist and archivist. The discussion was part of a public engagement series sponsored by the Obermann Center which aims to make the work of faculty and graduate students’ research available to the community.

Their conversation was held in November on Election Day, before the results came out, which brought in the topic of climate change, the government’s action and the critical point where we currently are. The decisions of the new president will have international, national and state implications, including on flooding and water quality in Iowa which are influenced by climate change. Their full conversation can be viewed on YouTube.
