The School of Planning and Public Affairs Student Association (SPPASA) is our student organization, representing all students pursuing a master's degree in Urban Planning or Public Affairs. SPPASA organizes social events (happy hours, outings, field trips, community meals, holiday events), community service events (e.g., food drives, United Way events), and a new peer-to-peer mentoring program connecting incoming students with second-year students.

SPPASA presents student ideas, concerns, and input through: student representatives at faculty meetings; SPPA committees such as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice committee; the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association; campus-wide Graduate and Professional Student Government; and to other organizations as students see fit depending on their interests and priorities.

SPPASA is vital to our school. It contributes to our welcoming, active, fun, and supportive community, and creates life-long friendships and bonds during SPPA students' graduate education.
