Land Use Planner and UI alum, Joe Wilensky, currently works as an Assistant Planner for Johnson County in Iowa City. He focuses on researching and reviewing development applications for Board of Supervisor action while also preparing policy proposals and measures for long term county land use planning. Previously, Joe worked in the private sector as a transportation planner for Snyder & Associates, where he generated federal grant proposals, traffic impact analyses, and life-cycle cost benefit analyses for a wide range of transportation planning projects.

Joe pursued his urban planning degree after undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies from The American University, in Washington, D.C. He gives back to UI through being a member of the University of Iowa GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Leadership Group, focusing on expanding engagement with, and opportunities for, recent University of Iowa alumni.
