Headshot of Cami Rasmussen

Getting her MPA degree brought Cami a wealth of new knowledge that significantly supplemented her nine years of experience as a current city administrator and 25 years in local government. Since completing her degree in 2022, she was elected by her peers to serve on the Iowa League of Cities Executive Board.

Cami chose a concentration in Public Management to enhance her leadership, communication, grant writing and strategic management skills, yet came away with so much more. Even though she had several years of experience in the field, she was frequently challenged and was able to broaden her data and policy analysis abilities, build stronger networks, and study government at a deeper level. She says, “As a full-time city administrator with a family, the MPA faculty and staff provided me with the support and flexibility I needed to thrive in the program.”

Cami is passionate about promoting the city management profession and women in leadership and hopes to be an example in both. The MPA program has been instrumental in her professional development and goal of influencing local government in Iowa.
