Representatives from the Graduate College recent shared information with legislators at Hawkeye Caucus Day in Des Moines about the important work our programs and students are doing in the state of Iowa. Those from our school included Lucie Lauran, Professor and SPPA Director; Travis Kraus, Director, Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities (IISC); and public affairs masters students Maggie Schnurr and Payton Colbert.

Maggie and Payton discussed research they conducted in their IISC capstone projects in the City of Clinton, IA.  Paytons’s group developed strategies related to youth substance-use prevention, and Maggie’s group made policy recommendations for Clinton organizations to assist people experiencing opioid use disorder (OUD).
