Jobs in urban planning are among the top 25 expected to grow, according to recent LinkedIn research. The study highlights sectors with expected sustainable growth trends and the role of community planner ranks at number 11.
Master’s degree students in urban planning at the University of Iowa consistently have a high post-graduation employment rate which reflects the need for people in this career. In the past three years, an average of 93% of UI graduates secured jobs in the field within one year of graduation.
Urban planners make a difference in the world. Professionals work on issues related to sustainable cities, affordable housing, social justice, neighborhood revitalization, land development, mobility and traffic congestion, economic development, and environmental planning. Additionally, according to LinkedIn’s results, urban planning is one of the most gender balanced careers of those on the list.
