Area of Study
Combined degree: Master of Public Affairs and JD
Concentration: Public policy

Why did you join the program?
As a combined degree student with the College of Law, I knew prior to applying to graduate programs that I wanted to work in education law and policy. I joined the master of public affairs program because it supplements my interests pertaining to the intersection of administration law and policy making, particularly in the field of education.

I began law school prior to starting courses in public affairs and recently had an article published in The University of Iowa College of Law's, Journal for Gender, Race, and Justice regarding education policies in the state of Iowa I am excited to see how the MPA program helps me further enhance my research and writing skills.

What advice would you give to someone considering pursuing a master of public affairs at the University of Iowa?
Pursuing an MPA is great for anyone who has intersectional interests. The program is flexible so all students can enroll in courses that allow them to pursue their passions and best prepare them for their future career paths.

What's a fun fact about you?
I’ve hiked on a glacier called SÓLHEIMAJÖKULL-- the fourth largest glacier in Iceland-- which was my favorite traveling experience because you could see the effect that climate change had on the glacier's depth shrinking. It also had a dormant volcano underneath it!
