Career Services Coordinator

Janet's main focus in the School of Planning and Public Affairs is assisting our graduate students in gaining skills to obtain meaningful internships and jobs which match their professional interests. She provides strategic support throughout their master's program, including personalized guidance on resume development, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, networking, and interviewing skills. Janet brings in panels of alumni and employers to discuss what employers are looking for and organizes individual mock interviews for students to receive feedback on their interview style. She additionally oversees hundreds of curated and relevant internships and jobs provided to our students each year. Janet is also our alumni coordinator. Our 1000+ alumni network is one of SPPA's greatest strengths, and Janet can put SPPA students in contact with alumni throughout the US and in many parts of the world to facilitate networking and build connections. 

Janet enjoys the different aspects of her job and the people she assists, whether it be students or alumni. She's completed the university's Building Our Global Community certificate program, giving her advanced knowledge of the needs of international students and how to best support them. She especially enjoys interacting with our international students, learning about their cultures, and serving as a community resource for them.
