Joe Wilensky

Biography

Joe is an Assistant Planner for Johnson County, Iowa.  There, he researches and reviews development applications for Board of Supervisor action while also preparing policy proposals and measures for long term county land use planning.  Previously, Joe worked as a transportation planner for Snyder & Associates, where he worked on federal grant proposals, traffic impact analysis, and life-cycle cost benefit analysis for a wide range of transportation planning projects.

Prior to working in the urban planning field, Joe served as an analyst in the Office of the Executive Secretariat at the U.S. Agency for International Development, and as a Community Relations Coordinator for the University of California, Merced campus.

Joe earned a B.S. in Political Science and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from The American University, in Washington, D.C.  He earned an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa and is a member of the University of Iowa GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Leadership Group, focusing on expanding engagement with, and opportunities for, recent University of Iowa alumni.
