Sushil Nepal

Biography

Sushil Nepal, AICP, is the Director of Planning and Development Services for the City of High Point in North Carolina and has worked for the City since July 2022. Prior to High Point, he served as Director of Planning and Economic Development for the Town of Harrisburg in North Carolina (2018-2022), Principal Planner with Town of Huntersville in North Carolina (2015-2022), Project Manager with Centralina Regional Council in Charlotte, North Carolina (2012-2015). He started his planning career with City of Cedar Rapids (and Corridor MPO) in 2007 and served as their Long-Range Planning Coordinator until 2012. He has extensive experience in municipal planning, economic development, transportation planning and associated local government services.

Sushil was born and raised in Nepal, moved to the United States for higher education in 2005 and attended The University of Iowa where he earned his Master of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning. He completed his Municipal and County Administration Certification (2020) and Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) Fellows Program (2022) through UNC School of Government. He also holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Management from Pokhara University in Nepal.

Sushil is an active member of the American Planning Association and a certified planner. He is involved with other professional organizations such as Urban Land Institute (ULI), and Congress for New Urbanism (CNU), and is involved with community service, serving both local and national non-profits.
