Chuck Connerly was recently elected as Vice President/President Elect of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP).  ACSP represents the academic side of the planning field and its membership consists of all the planning schools in the US.  Its primary functions include sponsoring an annual academic conference which is attended typically by 800 or more scholars from throughout North America.  ACSP also sponsors the publication of the Journal of Planning Education and Research (JPER), which is a leading publisher of research articles on urban planning and education.  ACSP also endeavors to enhance the quality of planning education throughout North America and in cooperation with the American Institute of Certified Planners, oversees the accreditation of planning schools through the Planning Accreditation Board.

 

From 2009 through 2011, Chuck will serve as Vice President, overseeing ACSP's publications and annual conference. He will serve under ACSP President Cheryl Contant, who is a former urban planning faculty member at the University of Iowa.  He will succeed Cheryl as president in 2011 serving a two year term.
