What did you do before you joined the program?
Completed a B.A. in Environmental Policy & Planning and a Certificate in Sustainability at the University of Iowa.

Why did you choose the School of Planning and Public Affairs (SPPA) at the University of Iowa?
I was drawn to the SPPA because of the unique opportunity to work with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities to complete a capstone project that would give me real-world experience. After completing my undergraduate degree here and now starting in the MPA program, I am always running into familiar faces on campus. Whether it be previous classmates, professors, students, club members, or coworkers, I always feel welcomed and know that support is there if I need it.

What’s next for you?
Within the next five years I hope to be working in the nonprofit sector supporting the growth of sustainability and resiliency of communities, working specifically with sustainable agriculture and local food movements.
