In April the Jefferson County Trails Council started putting up signs around Fairfield, Iowa for a citywide Bikeway/Walkway system. The original plan dates to a 2006 study by five University of Iowa URP students as a Field Problems project. It was designed to connect neighborhoods, schools, parks, recreational areas, and portions of the Jefferson County Trail system, in accordance with the town's 10-year strategic plan. The plan was approved by the City of Fairfield and implemented by the Trails Council.

All the signs will be up by the end of May 2008.
