David Forkenbrock was presented the first ever William S. Vickrey Award for best paper in economics and finance by the Transportation Research Board of the National Research Council for his article, “A Mileage-Based Road User Charge Concept.”

In 1998, TRB instituted the award to honor William Vickrey’s long and distinguished contribution to transportation research related to economics and finance. The award is given to an exceptional paper submitted to TRB that makes an important contribution to the fields of transportation economics and finance.
