Area of Study
Master of Public Affairs
Concentration: Public Policy

What did you do before you joined the masters program?
My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Public Service and Public Policy. I also have minors in Spanish and Political Science.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Iowa School of Planning and Public Affairs (SPPA)?
I was drawn by the community focus of the program where we learn crucial skills to impact change -- whatever that may look like for each individual.

What excites you the most about being a part of the University of Iowa community?
There are so many opportunities to learn new things and grow personally and professionally. The local and academic environment have encouraged me to seek out new experiences and have equipped me with many new skills.

What's next for you?
Within five years I hope to be working for a government agency or nonprofit working on program and policy implementation and evaluation.

What advice would you give to someone considering pursuing a master's in public affairs at the School of Planning and Public Affairs?
Connect with your professors! All of our faculty genuinely want to see you grow in and outside of the classroom.
