Congratulations to Dr. Richard Funderburg, our visiting Assistant Professor. On December 6, he successfully defended his dissertation titled Agglomeration, Production Externalities, and the Firm Location Decision and earned his Ph.D.

Last spring, Professor Bent Flyvbjerg from Aalborg University in Aalborg, Denmark, visited the University of Iowa as an Ida Beam Visiting Scholar.

Andy Jenkins in the Graduate College and Alan Peters in Urban and Regional Planning have just received a small grant to develop an experimental system to deliver three-dimensional mapping to Iowa communities.

Urban and Regional Planning and the Planning Department of the City of Iowa City have been working together on a 3D visualization model of potential changes to parts of the Burlington St. corridor.

Professor Alan Peters will speak on "Regional policy in pre- and post-apartheid South Africa." The talk will start at 3:30PM in Schaeffer 74 on March 8, 2006.

Professor Heather MacDonald will speak on "Community regeneration in Glasgow, Scotland." The talk will start at 3:30PM in Schaeffer 74 on March 1, 2006.
