Planning program faculty member Jim Throgmorton has organized an upcoming symposium focusing on the discourse surrounding environmental justice and sustainability. The symposium begins on Monday, Oct. 8th with additional events on Oct. 9th, Nov.

On October 8 and 9, Timothy Beatley, will make several presentations on campus as an Ida Beam Visiting Professor.

URP alum, Bill Millar, will be delivering the keynote address at BusCon 2007, America's Biggest Bus Show, on October 2nd in Chicago.

Two MacArthur Prize ("genius award") winners will be among the featured contributors to a "Toxic Talk" conference that Jim Throgmorton has been organizing. The conference will take place on Friday and Saturday (November 2-3).

Our new incoming students attended their orientation on Friday, August 24th, and took a moment to pose for a group picture. The group of 22 includes students who completed their undergraduate educations as far away as Haiti, China and India.

The University of Iowa's planning program was represented at this spring's APA meetings in Philadelphia by 18 students, one faculty member, and dozens of alumni.
